250 g sifted wheat flour
3 whole eggs
500 ml whole milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1 pinch salt
1 tablespoon neutral oil (or melted butter)
1 tablespoon amber rum or orange blossom water (optional)
1 vanilla pod or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Step-by-step preparation
1. Prepare the dough
In a large bowl, pour the flour and make a well in the center.
Break the eggs into the well, add the sugar, salt and vanilla.
Start whisking gently, gradually adding the milk to avoid lumps.
Then add oil or melted butter and your chosen flavoring (rum or orange blossom water).
Whisk until you have a smooth, runny batter.
